For optimal performance and visibility on the road, Wagner recommends changing headlights in pairs. When one of your headlights burn out, it is likely that it won’t be long before the other bulb burns out. Changing your headlights in pairs ensures that you can see and be seen in lowlight conditions.

Don’t touch the glass of the new bulb with your fingers. The oil from your skin may react with the glass and cause the bulb to heat unevenly which could result in the bulb burning out prematurely. Handle the bulb by the socket using a cloth or while wearing gloves.

Before replacing the bulb, make sure that the electrical connector at the back of the headlight isn’t loose or damaged. A corroded socket or faulty wire could cause the new bulb to not light up when you install it.

Vibration caused by driving over rough roads, potholes and bumps can reduce filament lifespan. Vibration can also occur if the bulb isn’t securely mounted in the headlight assembly or if the headlight housing isn’t securely attached to the vehicle.

Excessive heat or cold can also reduce a bulb’s lifespan. If you do a lot of night driving or if you have daytime running lights, the increased amount of time that your lights are on heats the filament to a higher temperature, possibly causing premature filament breakage. Bulb filaments become more brittle in cold conditions and are more susceptible to breakage, especially if accompanied by vibrations from rough roads and potholes.

Water and electricity don’t mix and any condensation in the headlight housing may cause a short circuit leading to bulb failure. Also, any condensation coming in contact with a hot bulb may cause the bulb to break.

From where you drive to what conditions you drive in, there are many factors that go into selecting the right Wagner replacement bulb for your vehicle. Factors to consider are:
