From the manufacturer

INNER TIE ROD ENDS

Featuring problem-solving innovations for long life and increased durability, MOOG takes pride in being called The Problem Solver. These advancements lead to long-lasting inner tie rod ends that are designed, tested and manufactured for easy installation and perfect fit right out of the box.

Preload Washer

The socket is preloaded with a spring to minimize socket looseness (where applicable) which extends the life of the part to maintain a "like-new" steering feel

Gusher Bearing

Problem Solver gusher bearing metal-to-metal design provides strength and allows grease to flow through bearing surface for reduced friction and long life (where applicable)

Wrench Flats

Wrench flats on housing and stud provide easy installation and alignment adjustment

Heat Treated Stud

Ball studs are heat treated to match or exceed OE requirements to inhibit premature failure and improve fatigue strength (where applicable)

What are inner tie rod ends?

The inner tie rod end connects the steering rack to the front wheel through the steering knuckle. As you steer left or right, the steering gear pushes the tie rod assembly left or right respectively. Tie rod ends are susceptible to damage and wear due to normal use and driving hazards like poor road conditions, potholes and accidents. If a tie rod fails, the effects can range from the mild (like premature tire wear) to the extreme (a total loss of control of your vehicle). Since the outer tie rod must be removed to replace the inner tie rod, it is a good idea to replace the inner tie rod and outer tie rod at the same time. Replacing both the inner and outer tie rods together can save time on a future repair and can help you avoid further issues down the road.

Uneven or premature tire wear

Excessive inner or outer tire wear is a sign that there could be something wrong with your tie rods ends.

Front end out of alignment

A damaged tie rod end can cause the front end to come out of alignment and handle poorly.

Vibration or looseness in steering wheel

A loose tie rod end can cause vibration or looseness in the steering wheel which can worsen during acceleration or turns.

Clunking, Grinding or Noise Under Vehicle

Abnormal noises like squealing while turning corners or clunking from the front end can be an indication of a damaged tie rod end.
