Magnum Severe Service 550010 Shock Absorber
Regular price $0.00 $55.99
- ENGINEERED FOR EMERGENCY AND FLEET VEHICLES -- For hardworking first responder, municipal, fleet and jobsite vehicles and features 10-stage valving that adjusts to road extremes to help handle frequent stops, heavy loads and high miles
- LONGER SERVICE LIFE -- Larger bore, bigger 2-in. reserve tube and 0.05-in. pressure tube work together to hold more oil for greater capacity to allow the shock to work efficiently for controlled ride and longer service life
- STRONG AND DURABLE -- Loop welding techniques include resistance welds and/or arc welds up to 360-degrees for durability while shouldered bushing and bonded bushing (on most applications) delivers quality
- BUILT TO LAST -- Heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod (on most applications) and sintered iron piston enhance durability for longer service life
- IMPROVES PERFORMANCE -- Nitrogen gas-charge maintains tire-to-road contact for improved ride and handling by reducing aeration and shock fade
- CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and help reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction
- CONTROL AND DURABILITY ā Banded piston helps reduce friction between the piston and pressure tube to enhance responsiveness to changing road surfaces for smooth operation
From the manufacturer
MONROE MAGNUM SEVERE SERVICE SHOCK ABSORBERS
Designed to get the job done for hardworking emergency, municipal, fleet and jobsite vehicles, Monroe Magnum Severe Service shock absorbers feature enhanced components to handle frequent stops, heavy loads and high miles to meet the demands of high-utilization and severe use vehicles.
Designed to deliver added control and long service life in the toughest environments, get the job done with Severe Service shocks. Not just for ride comfort, shocks are necessary for the safe handling of your vehicle. By maintaining vertical loads placed up on the tires, shocks help ensure consistent tire-to-road contact. Shocks also help maintain a balanced ride by providing resistance to vehicle bounce, roll and sway as well as brake dive and acceleration squat.
CAUSES & CONSEQUENCES OF SHOCK FAILURELike many parts on your vehicle, shocks are subject to wear. Causes include damaged bushings, exposure to the elements, loss of oil viscosity and deteriorated components. Driving with worn shocks can result in problems ranging from reduced braking efficiency, tire wear, loss of stability and damage to other suspension parts. | WHEN TO INSPECT SHOCKSInspecting your shocks on a regular basis ensures your vehicle is in proper working order, reduces maintenance costs and avoids unscheduled downtime. Monroe recommends that fleet and emergency vehicles have their shocks checked whenever an alignment, tire rotation or multi-point inspection is conducted during a preventative maintenance appointment. An inspection should also be performed whenever there is uneven tire wear or if work is done on the steering, frame or suspension components. | IMPORTANCE OF ALIGNMENTAlways perform an alignment whenever replacement shocks, struts or other ride control parts are installed. Camber, toe and caster settings can all be affected by installing new shocks. Failure to make sure the vehicleās alignment is within factory specifications can lead to problems like premature tire wear. | HOW TO CONDUCT A SHOCK INSPECTIONShocks may not show any visible signs of wear, make sure to request a ride control inspection every time your vehicle is brought in for service to ensure theyāre in optimal operating condition. When inspecting a vehicleās shocks: assess how the vehicle is used and perform ride and physical evaluations. Get an understanding of the vehicleās repair history, the way the vehicle handles and its intended use for clues if the shocks might need changing. Next, take the vehicle for a test drive to determine whether the vehicleās steering, stopping and stability are compromised. Wrap up the inspection with a physical examination for symptoms of wear which may indicate new shocks are required. |
